President Kibaki attends Wetangula’s daughter wedding



President Mwai Kibaki gives a word of advice to Miss Silvia Nasambu Wetangula and Stephen Biko Adera during their wedding ceremony at St Marks A.C.K Church, Westlands Nairobi.

President Mwai Kibaki was today among hundreds of dignitaries and other invited guests who attended a colorful wedding between Miss Silvia Nasambu Wetangula and Stephen Biko Adera at St Marks A.C.K Church, Westlands in Nairobi.
The Bride, who is a lawyer, is the daughter of Foreign Affairs Minister Moses Wetangula while the Bridegroom, also a lawyer, is the son of Mr Obado Adera.
The wedding, which was celebrated a day after promulgation of the country’s new constitution, was consummated by Bishop Joanes Anjela of Bondo Anglican Diocese
President Kibaki said Kenyans were celebrating the country’s new constitution, which he promulgated yesterday.
The Head of State wished the newly wed couple Gods blessings as they settled down to raise a family.


In his sermon, based on the book of Jeremiah 29: 11-12, Bishop Anjela urged young Kenyans to ignore pressures exerted by relatives and peer groups and look behold their communities for life partners.


Bishop Anjela encouraged Kenyans to embrace inter-ethnic marriages as the surest way of breaking tribal barriers to enhance peace and cohesion in the country.


With regard to the country’s newly promulgated constitution, the Bishop called upon the few Kenyans who opposed its passage to accept the will of the majority and participate fully in implementation of the supreme law.


Others who spoke during the wedding ceremony included Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta, Mr Wetangula and the Director of Anti corruption Commission P.L.O Lumumba.


In attendance were cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, former Vice President Moody Awori, the African Union Commission Président Jean Ping, members of the Diplomatic corps and senior government officials among other invited guests.
