Narc-Kenya has alleged a plot by some "powerful individuals" to defeat the Proposed Constitution.
The belated ruling on Kadhi courts and the insertion of the words "national security" in the draft at the Government Printers, the party says, are attempts by the group to derail a new constitution.
Without giving names, the Flower party said they include powerful landowners, businesspeople and politicians with contacts in all facets of the economy and security agencies.
Speaking during the launch of the ‘Yes’ campaign for people with disability yesterday, party Secretary-General Danson Mungatana said the referendum should not be a war between the Church and the Government, but between proponents of the status quo and those fighting for change.
"Which ordinary Kenyan will go to the Government Printer to change a clause in a highly secure slate? How, if not people with big money and power to open every door?" asked Mr Mungatana.
Equal opportunities
Narc-Kenya Chairperson Martha Karua declared that the country’s quest for a new constitution is unstoppable despite the setback brought about by the Kadhi courts ruling.
"We want every Kenyan to be given a chance to develop their full potential" said the Gichugu MP.
