Two people died and 35 others were seriously injured following a road accident in Mombasa.
The accident occurred after the bus belonging to Tahmeed Bus Company, rolled several times after it was unable to climb a hilly section of the road.
The passengers of bus were heading to Mombasa from Mwakirunge where they had attended the opening of a mosque ceremony.
They injures are now recuperating at various hospitals in Mombasa.
Elsewhere, two people including administrative police died on the spot while three others were seriously injured in an accident that involved a Nissan saloon and a Toyota pick up a long Kitale Eldoret High way.
Confirming the incident, Kitale Deputy OCPD Karissa Mwaringa said the saloon car was escorting money for the G4S Company to Eldoret while the Toyota pick up was heading to kitale when its tyre burst and lost control.
As a result it hit the saloon from the side at Muthoni trading centre a kilometre from kitale town.
He said an administration officer and the saloon driver died on the spot while other three people who were involved in the accident are being treated at Kitale district hospital.
The bodies of the two were taken to kitale district hospital mortuary while the injured are being treated at various hospitals in Kitale town.
Meanwhile at least 42 people narrowly escaped death on Sunday when the mini bus they were travelling in plunged into Ikiwe River at Kamweleni area in Machakos district.
The vehicle which was travelling from Machakos to Kikima in Mbooni district lost control on a steep section of the road before plunging into the flowing river.
Four passengers sustained minor injuries and were rushed to the Machakos General Hospital where they were treated and discharged.
Rescuers were forced to wade through chest-high waters to retrieve the accident victims from the submerged minibus.
Speaking in her hospital bed at the Machakos General hospital, Rose Kasangya a passenger of the ill fated minibus,who sustained a deep cut on the leg narrated to the press how minutes before the accident passengers had warned the driver against using the steep short cut but he refused.
On the eve of Good Friday, 14 passengers perished when a matatu ferrying worshippers to Mombasa collided with a lorry at Kinyambu area in Kibwezi district.
