Former South Africa’s First Lady Graça Machel is unhappy with the slow pace of reforms.
Ms Machel, a member of the Panel of Eminent African Personalities who brokered the peace deal in Kenya following the post-election violence, said the slow pace in tackling Agenda Four was worrying.
“Politicians must unite to give Kenyans the reforms and the people must push them to deliver instead of watching as spectators,” Ms Machel said.
She asked Kenyans not allow politicians undermine the reform process.
Never again
What happened in Kenya in 2008 was unimaginable and a repeat of the same would not be tolerated, she added. “Never, never again should Kenya get to that level of violence,” Ms Machel said.
She said those who spearheaded the violence must be tried at The Hague, with the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission dealing with internal mechanisms of healing.
She was speaking after the opening of the African Women’s Economic Summit by Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Nairobi on Friday.
