The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has said it will investigate and prosecute MPs who caused chaos during a special sitting of Parliament on Thursday.
“Offenders risk losing their seats,” chairman Mumo Matemu yesterday told the press at Integrity Centre, Nairobi.
The MPs fought during the debate on the Security Law (Amendment) Bill 2014.
The Bill was signed into law by President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday.
On Thursday, MPs threw papers and sprinkled water on Speaker Justin Muturi and his deputy Joyce Laboso.
Politicians from both Jubilee and Cord have been blamed for the incident.
TNA MPs David Gikaria, Ben Mutura, Kimani Ngunjiri, Alice Ng’ang’a, Joseph Kiuna, Njoka Muthomi, Moses Sakuda and Mwangi Gakuya stormed the Speakers’ Gallery and rained blows and kicks on the senators in full view of the speaker.
Suba MP John Mbadi was spotted snatching the Order Paper from chairman of the Committee on Security Asman Kamama and tearing it up.
Homa Bay women’s representative Gladys Wanga sprinkled water on Laboso.
Muthomi and Sakuda attempted to throw Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama from the Gallery to the floor of the House, a drop of 25 feet.
Muthama was saved by Cord MPs Simba Arati, Mbadi and Wanga.
Muthama and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula escaped the scuffle with bruises and torn shirts and trousers.
