IG Kimaiyo incognito tour of Nairobi supermarkets

Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo has raised concern that some institutions and shopping places are not being properly guarded.
The IG on Sunday, while using unmarked car and with no bodyguards, visited various supermarkets and malls in Nairobi to assess the general security situation.
He said the incognito tour was meant to monitor and evaluate police deployment and capability of handling an emergency.
Visited places included several Nakumatt outlets including Junction, Prestige', Mega and Lifestyle as well as Uchumi Koinange Street.  He also toured Don Bosco Catholic Church in Upper Hill, AIC Milimani, Tuskys Supermarket Moi Avenue, Yaya Centre and drove along several highways including Uhuru High Way, Mombasa Road and Waiyaki Way.
“Many places requires serious overhaul like KNH. I instructed them to carry out screening and assessment. I'll visit parts of the country soon,” said the IG after his tour. The country is presently on high alert following numerous terror attacks by al-shabab suspects.
