VIHIGA Senator George Khaniri has asked Amani leader Musalia Mudavadi to ditch Jubilee and work with Cord instead.
Khaniri, who was elected on the UDF ticket, joins his Kakamega counterpart Bonny Khalwale who has gone against against Mudavadi.
“The post-election deal is not working because the Luhya community is not benefiting from it. We would rather we work with Raila Odinga in the opposition,” he said.
Khaniri said the Jubilee government has not set up any project in Western since it came into power. He said Jubilee is instead frustrating the implementation of projects started under former President Kibaki.
Addressing residents at Chavakali bus park during the commissioning of a matatu for Chavakali Junction Youth Group on Saturday Khaniri said Mudavadi was "wasting time co-operating with jubilee".
Khaniri said he is ready to lead reunion talks between Raila and Mudavadi.
“I am ready to form two teams from both sides and start talks because we can only get power if Western and Nyanza are united,” he said.
Speaking separately however, Mudavadi said he cannot rejoin ODM because the party is disintergrating.
“Let people not worry about me. These people frustrated the late Wamalwa Kijana, me and now they telling Ababu Namwamba that the party has owners,” he said at a thanksgiving party for Muranda MCA Elphas Shilosio at Muranda Primary School in Shinyalu the same day.
Mudavadi said ODM lacks democracy and its botched elections is proof that the party is its deathbed. He said criticism of the Jubilee government should be constructive and not a platform for creating enmity.
Khaniri said Jubilee MPs did not support him when he contested for Senate Deputy Speaker despite the pact with Amani. He said Khalwale was "de-whipped" by Jubilee when he wanted to contest the Senate finance committee chairman post.
