Mtumishi and Mchungaji


There’s no doubt that they are the new face of comedy in Kenya.
Gilbert ‘Mtumishi’ Baraza and Josephat ‘Mchungaji’ Muchesia have invented a new style of comedy.
Their style of comprises a blend of corrupted songs derived from life’s actual events, a fashion that has earned them a huge following.
Last year they graced they graced the Mashujaa Day ceremony, bringing the president and other dignitaries to tears.
It is has sight that earned them quite a number of invites. “After the Mashujaa Day performance, we were invited to the standard gauge railway line launch in Mombasa.
We also performed at the opening of the new train stations in Makadara and Imara Daima,” says Mchungaji.
PUBLICITY...AND MONEY
Through all these performances they’ve been able to get the much needed publicity, apart from making some money.
They first came to the limelight through the Churchill show, a chance that they say never came easy.
“We had to trek from Kawangware to Carnivore for the auditions. Also we did quite a number of trials before finally getting a spot to showcase our talent,” they say.
However, as they say the rest is history as for now they are a force to reckon with when it comes to making people laugh.
According to the dual, what makes them tick is the fact that apart from remaining original, they have to pray before going for their rehearsal.
FUTURE LOOKING BRIGHT
Apart from comedy they have also ventured into entrepreneurship, whereby they have invested in a security company by the name Mtumishi Security Services.
They are now in the process of launching a drama program that will soon be on our screens.
