UNHAPPY: Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka with MPs Kisoi Munyao, Stephen Mule, Junet Mohammed, Robert Mbui and Mutua Muluvi at Kimua town yesterday.
WIPER leader Kalonzo Musyoka has accused the Jubilee government of promoting tribalism through political appointments. Kalonzo said top government positions are filled through nepotism rather than on merit.
“The situation has been escalated by the appointments of political rejects from opposition zones to fill big jobs in the government. This does not augur well with cohesion,” he said.
Kalonzo said Cord leader Raila Odinga should have been consulted over the appointments of Cabinet Secretaries for the sake of national unity. He said many Kenyans feel alienated from the government as a result of the appointments, which favoured a few tribes at the expense of others.
Kalonzo said he will always oppose tribalism in favour of national cohesion and development. He was speaking at the African Inland Church in Kyanda, Machakos county on Sunday.
Kalonzo said he has reconciled Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and Senator Johnstone Muthama for the sake of the county’s prosperity. “If you have noticed, the senator has stopped his attacks on Mutua following a ceasefire deal reached with the assistance of church leaders from Machakos county led by Catholic Bishop Martin Kivuva.”
Kalonzo told residents to vote for Wiper candidate Francis Ngunga in the Thursday’s by-election in Mua ward. He said Ngunga enjoys the support of all locally elected leaders including Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua. Kathiani MP Robert Mbui accused the Jubilee government of interfering with the judiciary. He said this will bring confusion in the management of the country’s affairs.
“True peace is not the absence of war but the presence of justice,” he said Mbui said the media bill is aimed at muzzling the press to pave way for impunity. Mbooni MP Kisoi Munyao said the bill does not reflect the wishes of Kenyans. Matungulu’s Stephen Mule said Jubilee MPs have been passing bad bills in Parliament.
