Kenyan women MPs were treated to a very interesting Kenya@50 celebrations in Uganda last week. They were thrashed 50-13 by their Tanzanian counterparts in a netball game. When the Tanzanians scored the 50th goal, the winners broke into 'happy birthday' song in accordance with their original plot. The Kenyan women MPs, lost for words, opted to join in the song as well. Nyeri women's representative Priscilla Nyokabi consoled her fellow MPs saying: “Well, we are still the oldest democracy in EAC!”

A businessman has found himself in a tight spot after he allegedly forged the signature of Internal Security PS Mutea Iringo in a letter to the Kenya Revenue Authority. The forgery has placed the businessman under the taxman's radar as the letter was allegedly lifting a ban imposed on the export of Mastermind cigarettes through the Mandera border, which was closed several years ago. The businessman is the sole agent and distributor of the cigarettes in South Somalia and Jubaland.
