We are told that soon after the Star published a story on how furious Deputy President William Ruto was regarding the loss of his budget, Finance Secretary Henry Rotich and State House Controller Lawrence Lenayapa moved quickly to restore normalcy in the DP's office. The two reinstated some of the budget and paid staff who had gone for months without their salaries. Yesterday staff members called the Star to congratulate the paper for reporting the story, "because we now have our money".

That Charity Ngilu will leave office could be a matter of time. We are told that some MPs who passed the report that found her guilty of making illegal appointments plan to introduce a motion of no confidence on Ngilu if the President does not act.

Some MPs were last week, at Parliament Buildings, heard saying that “eating” is not bad as long as it does not compromise their conscience. Their justification came after they were hard put by their colleagues to explain why they received handouts to influence three crucial motions in the House. In apparent banter to justify their actions, the MPs, cornered in the wash rooms, corridors, committee rooms and the debating chamber said they are ready to “eat” but make the right decisions.

A Senator from Central was recently overheard telling his friends that he regrets having not gone for a National Assembly position. His said he finds the debates in the Senate boring and dragged as compared to the National Assembly's. He said due to its location at the KICC, the Senate appears less prestigious than the National Assembly, which is at Parliament Buildings.
