Ruto Backs Off

After weeks of leading the crusade for a referendum to have the share of national revenues set aside for counties increased from 15 to 40%, Bomet governor Isaac Rutto now appears to have succumbed to pressure from the government and his URP party.
Ruto, who is also the chair of the governors' council announced what appeared to be a softening of his stance on the matter after meeting president Uhuru Kenyatta's political advisor Joshua Kuttuny today.
And as our reporter uncovers, Ruto's sudden change of heart came amid growing pressure from the Jubilee government and several Bomet county assembly members.
