Kenyatta: Narasha Evictees To Be Compensated

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday visited the Narasha evictees in Naivasha and pledged that they will be compensated by the Government.
The President said his government would compensate all the families who were forcefully evicted by hired goons.
President Kenyatta said that all government officers are forbidden from harassing Kenyans.
He added that security personnel are expected to protect citizens and not to visit terror on them.
He was referring to an incident last week that saw hundreds of families evicted from their homes in Narasha and their houses torched by goons.
The President told security officers to respect the rule of law as long as they were in the service.
The Head of State said that his government should not be blamed for the land issues in Narasha because it had been ongoing issue since the previous regime.
The President also said that a committee will be set up to deal with the land issue.
The Head of State asked all Kenyan communities to maintain peace despite the differences they may have between them.
The residents of Narasha want the government to compensate them to the tune of Ksh. 82 million, a figure that the Government is yet to settle on.
The locals are blaming Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) for their woes.
