I was offered Sh30m to nail Uhuru - Waiganjo

Friday, August 30, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY GEORGE MURAGE
Police imposter Joshua Waiganjo has said he was offered Sh30 million to implicate President Uhuru Kenyatta in the ICC cases. Waiganjo was speaking yesterday at Naivasha law courts when he released a chapter of his book Goodbye Police Comrades. He said he was offered the money to incriminate Uhuru in the use of guns in Naivasha in the 2007-08 post- election violence.
Waiganjo said the request came at the height of the campaigns for the March 2013 elections and if he agreed, he would be offered asylum in the Netherlands with his family. He declined the offer after discussions with senior prisons officers. “ICC is a political tool used to harass and eliminate opponents,” Waiganjo said. He released the chapter ‘asylum in the Netherlands’ in a small ceremony attended by warders and the press.
In the book, Waiganjo narrates how he spoke to former Prime minister Raila Odinga on the phone for more than 45 minutes after he requested to have a meeting with him over the allegations facing him.
He told how Raila’s head of security Lumumba Owade visited him at the prison in February. “I used Lumumba’s mobile phone where I spoke with Raila. He told me he was aware of the false charges against me,” he said.
Waiganjo defended former Rift Valley PPO John M’mbijiwe and his anti-stock Theft Unit counterpart Remy Ngugi saying they are innocent.
In a letter dated may 29, 2003 and signed by former Rift Valley PPO Peter. Kimanthi, it shows that Waiganjo was appointed as an a CP in charge of reservists in North Rift. “You are to oversee activities of all police reservists in Northern Rift, especially Kapenguria in West Pokot, Kitale and Nakuru,” reads the letter in part.
