Raila: I Am Not Looking For A Job Featured
Former PM Raila Odinga has dismissed reports that he is waiting for a job from the Jubilee Government.
Speaking on Sunday morning after attending a church service at Lutheran church, Nairobi, Odinga made it clear that he was not looking for a job.
‘My hands are full at the moment. We want to be a true opposition’ Odinga said.
The former PM was reacting to reports that he was awaiting a job from President Kenyatta.
The reports had indicated that the CORD leader could be made a special envoy by the Jubilee government.
Other reports have in the past said that the former PM is eyeing to go back to Parliament and lead CORD troops in the August House.
Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka who was Odinga’s running mate in the March 4th has said he is not interested in going back to parliament.
Odinga further hit out at MPs over their push to have their salaries and allowances reviewed upwards.
Odinga said the MPs should not use blackmail to force the government to review their salaries.
He said the current state of the economy can not sustain higher salaries for MPs and other senior positions.
The former Langata MP added that instead of pay hikes, the money should go towards development projects to spur the economy.
This, he argued would create more jobs for the young people entering the job market.
