Kenya: Members of the National Assembly want details of the recent tour by Deputy PresidentWilliam Ruto to West and Central Africa to end speculation on the trip’s cost.
And the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) indicated it would investigate the matter to establish whether taxpayers’ money was misused.
Last week, Ruto toured Congo, Gabon, Nigeria, Algeria and Ghana to promote pan- Africanism.
MPs David Ochieng (Ugenya, ODM) and Rachael Shebesh (Nairobi Women Rep, TNA) said the Government should clear the air over the visit.
Mr Ochieng demanded a statement from the Leader of Majority Aden Duale arguing the House needed to be told the truth.
He also sought to know from Mr Duale whether the law was followed in hiring the jet.
“We want to know the purpose of the visit and whether the trip was of benefit to Kenya,” he said.
Ms Shebesh also demanded to know the reasons for the tour and asked Duale to furnish the House with details.
