Bandits attack Kalembe Ndile's home

MONDAY, MAY 20, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY STAR REPORTER
The Independent Party Leaders Kalembe Ndile, narrowly escaped death this morning after bandits allegedly stormed his Syokimau Estate home but were repulsed by his personal security.
Athi River police confirmed that one of the gangsters was arrested after he was cornered in the compound of the former Assistant Minister’s house at 4am by Ndile’s security men.
Area OCPD Charles Kiriinya said police are holding one suspect after seven others managed to escape after the morning raid.
“We have one suspect in custody and he confessed to us that they were eight in number. We are pursuing the rest in a bid to bring them to justice,” said Kiriinya.
Kiriinya said the police are yet to establish the motive behind the raid and have asked members of the public to volunteer any information that can assist the police in their investigations.
Ndile said he was woken up in the early morning when he heard his dogs barking and when he looked outside from his bedroom window he saw a man with a long machete jumping into his compound.
“I alerted my security men and they responded immediately.” said Ndile.
Police recovered two machetes and a club at the scene.
Speaking to the press later, Ndile claimed the attack was politically instigated by his “enemies”. He said the raid may be connected  to his petition challenging the results of the Kibwezi West  Constituency parliamentary seat in which Patrick Maweu Musimba was declared the winner
