Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Sunday came under attack from supporters of his one-time political ally Musalia Mudavadi over his comments that the National Security Intelligence Service (NSIS) was out to finish his political career.
Speaking at Roret in Kericho on Sunday, Ikolomani MP Boni Khalwale accused Mr Odinga of undermining the intelligence body.
Mr Odinga told the Nation on Saturday that the national spy agency had teamed up with his political opponents to encourage and fund his former adviser Miguna Miguna to write a tell-all book whose goal was to stall his presidential ambitions.
However, Dr Khalwale accused Mr Odinga of bringing up the NSIS issue in a bid to divert the attention of Kenyans from allegations made against him in Mr Miguna’s book, Peeling Back the Mask.
He urged the PM to record a statement with the police over his fears concerning the NSIS.
Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni accused the PM of being a persistent complainer who was ‘looking for people to blame for his failing political career.’
Nomination rules
Mr Mudavadi, who was on a three-day campaign tour of South Rift, said he was in United Democratic Forum to stay, and that he would not decamp to ODM despite the party amending its nomination rules to allow members to challenge Mr Odinga for the presidential ticket.

The Sabatia MP pointed out that he quit ODM because of its discriminative rules and maintained that he had no intentions to return to the Orange party.
He told the Prime Minister to bite the bullet and stop wasting his energy trying to lure him and the Eldoret North MP William back to ODM.
The UDF leader told residents of Litein, kapkatet, Kaplong and Chebole trading centres that if elected he would improve education, security, health sectors.
