Kenya, Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kakamega, Garissa and many more small townships in Kenya celebrated English premier league in style with unique twist and turns in the dying minutes of the game.
In a strange twist of fate against Manchester United fans who were celebrating when their game ended 1-1 against Sunderland away.
But there was late drama. This digital reporter was in a pack of teams who were not in contention like Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool and who had by five minutes to the end of the game resigned to supporting underdogs 10-man QPR for putting up a good show against Mancity.
And when ManU were leading with added 3 minutes gone all the supporters resigned to accepting Man U had won the league fair and square.
But drama soon followed. The channel was flipped and we were watching ManU celebrate win when Mancity equalised but we still rubbished it saying Mancity were playing matope (useless) and could not secure the game.
But they all changed when in a flash when Mancity magic worked at the tail end of the game. They somehow rescued was a bad day in office with two crucial goals at the end.
Said Opis Aol: "this is an incredible turn around thought at the wrong time. Kenya has few Mancity fans but we Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, ganged against ManU today and there has been no sweet victory against Manu in recent times like this."
John: "I left Mancity match when they were trailing 2-1 and switched to my boys Arsenal. Bit I am hearing something strange did I miss something tell me my sister I do not trust football fans?" he asked his sister who was in out company.
John like many was simply trying to verify the results. He was proved right.
All this happened as Kenyans who love football but have been disappointed with the show of football at the local scene with the national team delivering sickening results in succession as local clubs too tumble against sides that are known in footballing leagues.
A Chelsea fan sent a salt rubbing message to his friends asking them to say how many finals their teams reached, how many silverware have you won this season? What is the average age of your team? And kindly clarify if your team has any game after Sunday 13th May 2012. Chelsea of course have a game next Saturday against Champions League Finalists Bayern Munich.
