The age old rivalry between the Kiambu and Nyeri Kikuyu seemed to be rekindled over the weekend when local leaders in Nyeri accused Uhuru of ignoring them and only working with leaders from Kiambu. The Nyeri leaders cited the decision by Uhuru to take over Nginyo Kariuki's party and rename it The National Alliance as an indication that he does not want to work with them and they are considering other options. Our moles tell us that is why Mwangi Kiunjuri, Chris Murungaru and Ephraim Maina all rivals and leaders of different parties met in Nyeri over the weekend.

Still on matters Uhuru we are told that the reason Uhuru has identified with the TNA party is because he wants a clean break with region's old guard. Those in the know tell us that Uhuru does not want to be under the control of the rich and powerful Kikuyu politicians who had initially wanted him to join UDF which Musalia Mudavadi has now taken over.

Speaking of positions, there is intense lobbying by people who want to be appointed to the East African Legislative Assembly. The Clerk of the National Assembly has published the rules which political parties should use in nominating the prospective MPs. Some of those interested are reportedly spending lots of their time and money lobbying the nominating parties and politicians to get appointed.

National Cohesion and Integration Commission commissioner Alice Nderitu has told Corridors that she is not interested in succeeding the late Mary Onyango as the commission's vice chair. We are also told that Fatuma Mohammed who challenged Onyango at the inception of the commission is also not keen on the position now. It is not clear whether commissioner Jane Kiano is interested  in the position though some people at the Ministry of Justice had told Corridors that the Maendeleo ya Wanawake patron was interested in the post.

Corridors can put to rest the confusion that has been growing as to which Onyango Oloo is the secretary-General of The National Alliance. The Onyango Oloo who is the TNA secretary general is known as George. He shares similar names with political commentator and SDP member David Onyango Oloo. Both men dropped their 'English' names which has caused some confusion in the public.
