FORMER Mumias MP Wycliffe Osundwa has joined the race for Kakamega county Senator’s seat. Osundwa said his candidature is informed by mounting pressure from the voters in the four constituencies of Mumias, Matungu, Butere and Khwisero.
“I have been doing quiet consultations for the last one year and have finally made up my mind that I will be seeking to become the first Senator for Kakamega county,” Osundwa said yesterday.
Osundwa becomes the third candidate to declare interest in the seat. Others with eyes on the seat are Ikolomani MP Boni Khalwale and Prof Shanyisa Khasiani from Shinyalu constituency.
Osundwa said he will officially launch his bid in two weeks' time and promised his opponents a run for their money. He said he is confident of winning the seat on an ODM ticket because the party controls seven of the nine constituencies in the county.
