CHECK MBARUK ROAD. Responding to Roads minister Franklin Bett’s recent challenge to the public to report to his officers the most dilapidated roads so that they can be fixed, Sadik M. Makii says one of the worst is Mbaruk Road in Nairobi.
The road has fallen apart following the last heavy rains, with several huge potholes and broken sewers discharging the muck into them.
“And yet this is a key bypass to ease traffic from Mbagathi Way to Ngong Road. Any repairs would be highly welcomed,” says Sadik.

WE'RE WORKING ON IT. The City Council of Nairobi has noted Leonard Logovane’s complaint about the incomplete work on Landhies Road, Nairobi, says Omar Abdi on behalf of the Town Clerk.
“The matter is being given due consideration to ensure that road works are completed within the stipulated time."
On the Rikana roundabout, Omar says it falls under the jurisdiction of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority.

SEND MY REFUND. Kenya Power does not deserve the praises showered on it by P. K. Kuria, says E. N, Nyagah, a resident of Zimmerman Estate, Nairobi.
Nyagah, whose account is No. 0098519-01, says that two months ago, the company imposed a new meter system.
However, it is reluctant to refund the deposit they had paid for the old meters.
On enquiring at Electricity House, he was told the matter was still being looked into.

COMPENSATE US. On November 24, Peru Collins, a tenant at Janwarkar Apartments between City Cabanas and Transami Kenya on North Airport Road, Nairobi, says a power surge wrecked all his electronic equipment, and those of 10 of his neighbours.
Their efforts to call Kenya Power’s emergency section failed. He hopes the firm will repair the items or buy them replacements.

PARCEL DELIVERED. Postal Corporation of Kenya has confirmed that Willis Ojowi’s registered parcel (RR003000849KE), which he sent to the UK on September 30 was delivered, says Timothy Lomulen.
It was received at the Eldoret Post Office and sent the same day to Nairobi.
It was dispatched to the UK on October 1 (D/No. 273, Flight No. KQ 0102).

FRUSTATED BY POSTA. On January 18, Bryan Harris recalls, Posta took out full-page advertisements to mark the Pan African Postal Union Day.
The message ‘‘contained grand words such as mission, vision and core values”, but he is not sure if these are ever translated into practice.
His biggest frustration is the inability to buy stamps for Sh25, Sh45, or even Sh75.
“I believe these are the mainstay of Posta’s business, but one always has to buy three to make up the value required. It’s maddening. Over to you, Posta!”
