A top politician from Western Kenya is being accused of illegally selling sandalwood. Exports of the sweet-smelling wood have been banned because the plant is threatened with extinction in Kenya. But sources at the Kenya Forest Service say stockpiles of the plant, normally held by the government after being seized from illegal exports, are slowly disappearing from government custody, are are being re-exported illegally.
