Rarieda Member of Parliament Eng. Nicholas Gumbo (Tuesday) lashed out at Cabinet Ministers in the Grand Coalition Government from the Orange Democratic Movement – ODM wing accusing them of being disrespectful to the party.
While seconding a Motion of Adjournment on the high cost of living and the rising cost of fuel prices by Budalang’i Member of Parliament Mr. Ababu Namwamba, Eng. Gumbo told an astonished house that there was no need for a bloated government if some Minister can’t respect the person who appointed them to the Cabinet.
Eng. Gumbo said, the purpose of the bloated government was to suit the interests of both sides of the Grand Coalition Government and that those appointed to the Cabinet were expected to discharge their duties responsively and to the benefit of all Kenyans.
Eng. Gumbo said “this bloated government has lost meaning and Kenyans are not happy”. He said anyone appointed to the Cabinet is supposed to serve the interests of Kenyans and of their political parties.
“Let me address the ODM Cabinet Ministers, I must say you are an embarrassment to our party ODM” he said. “If a Minister can discredit the importance of our National flag by describing it as a mere piece of cloth, do you thing that person deserves to serve Kenyans in the Cabinet?” he posed.
He called on the government to listen to the plight and the cries of poor Kenyans who have been affected by the skyrocketing prices of commodities occasioned by the rise in the cost of fuel prices.
Mr. Namwamba while moving the motion attributed the rise in fuel prices in the country to corrupt cartels in Ministry of Energy particularly the National Oil Corporation of Kenya – NOCK. He said, NOCK had corrupt individuals who are making millions of shillings from shoddy deals something that has made other players in the oil industry to stop dealing with it hence the rise in fuel prices.
Other ODM Legislators who contributed to the motion were Hons. Joseph Nkaissery, Pollyns Ochieng’, Jakoyo Midiwo among others.
