Share/Save/Bookmark Last Friday saw different artistes perform on the same stage in honor of Benga artiste Musa Juma who passed away last month. The artistes, Dan 'Chizi' Aceda, Chris Adwar and the Villagers Band, Jacob Asiyo and Abbi Nyinza, dedicated the quarterly concert dubbed The Gentleman’s Affair to the artiste remembered for his popular songs like Mercelina, Hera Mudho, Ufisadi and Freddy. “We decided to give a tribute to Musa Juma just to appreciate his music because we felt that he was under-celebrated. It was also a platform for us to showcase what we have,” Adwar told Word Is.
He also dismissed assumptions that the concert was a fundraiser as most people assumed. “This was not a fundraising but an opportunity to tell people out there that there are many talented artistes out here who are not known,” he said.
According to Dan ‘Chizi’ Aceda, Musa was a great inspiration to his music. “I love Benga and listening to Musa Juma, who is a big Benga legend, and his band has always been a relief,” he told Word Is
Musa Juma started music aged 10 at the inspiration of Franco Luambo Makiadi, the Congo legend. He was the bandleader of Orchestra Limpopo International band.
