Last year's groove awards female artist of the year Emmy Kosgei is set for a major music concert at Kericho's Tea Hotel today, a month after releasing a new album.
More than 100 gospel artists from Rift valley have been invited to the concert that will feature Emmy’s new album dubbed O’lolo (No more turning Back), launched a month ago in Eldoret. The album has ten tracks in Kalenjin but the title track is a mix of English, Kiswahili and Kalenjin.
This is the first live concert Emmy has staged in the region after releasing the new album. She is expected to use it to popularise the album in preparation for future awards, according to the concert organisers.
Renown Kipsigis gospel artist Lilian Rotich whose Album Inetkei (learn to say am sorry) has become a hit in the region after its release on Christmas eve last year, will be among the guest artists at the concert.
Last years’ Groove Awards nominee Grace Kipsang and Gladys Cherotich have also confirmed their participation among other gospel musicians from the whole country. Organisers said the concert, to start from 11am, will give all church choirs from the region a chance to present their best songs.
