Students injured in accident

Several students were Tuesday morning injured when their school bus was involved in an accident near Ringa along the Kericho-Nakuru highway in Kipkelion district.

Five students, two teachers sustained serious injuries and are admitted to Kericho district hospital.

According to Kericho OCPD Peterson Maelo, the bus rolled several down a hill at about 7am local time.

The bus was ferrying 43 students of St. Georges Secondary school in Muthaiti to Kisumu for a tour.

The police boss that the bus driver, four students and two teachers sustained injuries and are admitted to the Kericho district hospital in stable condition.

Thirty other students and two teachers who sustained minor injuries were treated and discharged.

Maleo said police were investigating the cause of the accident. But initial reports indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Meanwhile, police in Malindi are investigating an incident in which the body of a 50 year old Italian man was found decomposing in his house at Msabaha area in Malindi district.

Confirming the incident, Malindi OCPD David Kerina, said Rosiello Vladimiro's body was found on the floor next to his bed with his belongings scattered all over the house.

The deceased was said to have been staying alone and that it was his lawyer who came looking for him at the house after attempts to contact him failed.

The lawyer, Mr. James Muoko, found the gate to the house wide open and suspected something was amiss and he immediately contacted the police.

Police suspect that Mr. Vladimiro has been dead for the past three months and the cause of death was yet to be established.

The police boss confirmed that the Italian Consulate had already been informed and that they were ready to work with them to solve the mystery surrounding the death of their citizen.
