Musician case adjourned

A case in which the family of the popular Kikuyu Super star the late Jane Nyambura alias Queen Jane is fighting for the burial of the musician with his husband was has been adjourned until July 26.

Senior Resident Magistrate Barbra Owino adjourned the case following a successful application by the plaintiff Lawyer John Ngure Mbugua.

Mbugua applied for an adjournment to allow his client file his marriage certificate as evidence (exhibit).

Owino dismissed an objection by defendant's counsel Mugo Kamau to oppose the adjournment saying the marriage was done in 2001.

Thus the plaintiff had able time to put the certificate as evidence.

Mbugua said that the certificate was a crucial element in the burial saga.

Last week, Queen Jane's husband James Kariuki Mbugia successfully applied for an injunction restraining the deceased family from conducting her funeral or announcing the same.

The family intended to bury the musician's remains at Mugoiri in Murang'a District.

The husband wants to bury his wife in his Makwa farm in Gatundu North.

Kariuki says he is lawfully married to the deceased and were staying together until her death at Lang'ata Hospital on June 30.

Queen Jane is credited with bringing glamour to the Kikuyu music and penetrating the male dominated industry.

Her hits include Ndutige Kwiyaba, Mwendwa KK, Muici Wa Itura, Muthuri Teenager, Arume Ni Nyamu, Nduraga Ngwetereire among others.
