MAU TREE PLANTING

Prime Minister Raila Odinga will Thursday return to Mau for his second tree planting exercise.

The event, which will be part of the commemoration of the 2010 World Earth Day, will also be graced by US Ambassador to Kenya Michael Ranneberger.

The tree planting will take place at SONGI KABOYET in Eastern Mau.

The PM's last event in the Mau was in January when he led other Kenyans in launching a tree planting drive in the Mau Forest at Kaptunga in Molo.

The Premier is once again appealing to Kenyans and friends of Kenya to turn out and support the exercise which he says is another step in the long journey to restore Kenya's environment.

Mau is the largest indigenous forest in East Africa and Kenya's most vital water tower, covering some 270,000 hectares.
