KARUA SAYS YES

Party chair Martha Karua claimed clerics were misleading Kenyans on the Kadhi courts.

She said the courts are not religious courts, as some Christian leaders want Kenyans to believe.

"Kadhi courts are here to stay and its time fellow Christians tolerated others so that we can be one nation," she said.

Karua spoke during the opening of a strategy team retreat for party members in Naivasha. She said Narc-Kenya would ensure the document is passed at the referendum.

She accused the Church of backtracking on their submissions on abortion.

Karua said recommendations by NCCK and the Catholic Church to the PSC had supported that life begins at conception.

"Their recommendations were accommodated in the draft and it’s unfair to change heart at this time," she said. On graft, Karua said coalition partners have engaged in massive corruption, which has adversely affected the economy.
