How safe are your debit and credit cards?

Identity theft and fraud affect millions of Americans every year. And depending on how much thought you put into your personalized PIN, you could be at a greater risk than you realized.

So what constitutes a safe PIN number? A new study from DataGenetics lists the top 10 most-used PINs. And because they are the most commonly used PIN numbers, they are by default the least safe PINs.
According to Forbes, the United States and Mexico are home to the greatest number of credit and debit card thefts around the globe. Forty-two percent of Americans say they have suffered from some form of card fraud, a study from Aite Group and ACI Worldwide shows.
The Department of Justice says that about 10 percent of all Americans suffer from credit card fraud each yearand another 7 percent have their debit cards hacked or stolen. More than $5.5 billion in theft is attributed to credit card fraud each year.
The DataGenetics study says that credit and debit card thieves are able to successfully guess more than 25 percent of stolen card PINs within 20 attempts.
And no surprise: the worst PINs are those that are overly simple or sequenced, i.e. “1234.”
WTOP notes that the best PIN numbers are those “with no special significance.” And in the case of the study, DataGenetics said the least used PIN is “8068.”

Simon Cowell Expecting A Baby With Friend's Wife (Report)

Access Hollywood

Simon Cowell is reportedly going to be a dad... though there's a bit of a twist.
According to Us Weekly, the reality TV mogul, 53, and Lauren Silverman, 36, are having a baby.
"She's around 10 weeks along," a source claimed to the mag.
Lauren is reportedly the estranged wife of Simon's friend, Andrew Silverman.
"Lauren and Andrew have been unhappy in their marriage for some time, and their divorce has been in the works for a while," another source claimed to the mag. "As their marriage deteriorated, she and Simon became close."
Becoming a dad would be a big change for the "X Factor" judge, who in 2009 said, "God, no. I couldn't have children. If I had them here drawing on the walls I'd go nuts. With kids, you've got a routine you can't escape from. You've got to be up at a certain time. Got to listen. When all you want to do is sit in a corner thinking."
Last year in March, the Brit told AOL Music that his stance on kids had changed - slightly.
"Well... yes," he said when asked his opinion of becoming a father has changed. "And no. I do really, really like kids, because I can talk to them and listen to them. The problem has always been how much time you need to devote to bringing up kids. I've always dedicated all my life to work, and at 52, I've probably missed the opportunity."
Access has reached out to Lauren Silverman and a rep for Simon Cowell. So far we have not heard back.
