The national government is trying to rescue the 130 girls detained in Saudi Arabia, Foreign Affairs CS Amina Mohamed has said.
She told the press in Nairobi yesterday the government has opened talks with its Saudi Arabia counterpart.
“We are working to ensure this issue is resolved as quickly as possible,” Amina said.
Kenyans have launched an online campaign calling for the girls’ rescue.
The campaign dubbed #Bring130KenyanGirls comes after a video of the girls surfaced on social media.
The girls are seen begging for help and complaining of poor health, physical abuse and mistreatment by their Saudi Arabian hosts.
