Pay your Mumias Sugar Company debt, Duale tells Raila

National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale
National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has linked CORD leader Raila Odinga to the financial woes facing Mumias Sugar Company.
Duale attributed the troubles at Kenya’s biggest sugar mill to a Sh40 million debt that the Odinga family allegedly owes the company.
“The collapse of Mumias did not start during Uhuru’s tenure. It begun during that of former president Mwai Kibaki and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Raila’s family owes Mumias Sugar Company Sh40 million and we call on Western legislators to go to the former PM’s office and pick the cheque,” said Duale.
Though he failed to divulge details of the purported debt, Duale insisted that before politicizing the Uganda sugar deal, Odinga should first repay the money his family owes.
He called on the CORD leader to reveal what he had done, during his time as Prime Minister to support sugarcane farmers in Western region saying it is wrong for the ODM party leader to play politics with the lives of sugarcane farmers.
Duale was speaking during a fundraiser at Borborwet Secondary School at Belgut constituency in Kericho County.
He was accompanied by Kericho County Senator Charles Keter, MPs Leonard Sang (Bureti), Erick Keter (Belgut) and Moses Cheboi (Kuresoi North Constituency).
