Kidero sued

Evans Kidero
Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero is facing a fresh court battle after a Nairobi businessman moved to court to push for his arrest over allegations of mismanaging Mumias Sugar Company.
Jacob Juma moved to High Court on Wednesday seeking orders to have Kidero arrested and charged with fraud for his alleged involvement in the dwindling fortunes at Kenya’s biggest sugar miller.
Juma also wants the court to declare the Nairobi governor unfit to hold a public office and freeze his bank accounts.

In his petition, the businessman stated that the troubles bedevilling the sugar company date back to when Kidero was the managing director, adding that the company might collapse if the court does not recover the “stolen money”
He claimed that the Sh2 billion that the government is giving to Mumias Sugar Company for its revival is not sufficient, adding that action must be taken against the Nairobi governor in efforts to save the sugar miller.
Last month, Kidero went to court to bar Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale from linking him to the financial troubles at Mumias Sugar Company.
Kidero also accused Khalwale of defaming him by labelling him as the “prefect of corruption”.
The temporary orders issued by the court restraining Khalwale from further commenting on the Mumias Sugar issue lapsed on July 1st after Kidero failed to serve the Senator.
The case will be heard on August 14th, 2015.
The governor has in several occasions distanced himself from the allegations saying that by the time he was leaving the company in 2012, Mumias was making profits.
