Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana yesterday faulted Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s critics for “disrespecting” the former Vice President.
He said Kalonzo will remain the Ukambani political kingpin until the people decide otherwise.
Kibwana said leaders purporting to be kingpins should wait to earn the position.
‘’You cannot wake up one day and decide to be a kingpin. Some positions are earned and take long,” he said.
He spoke to Kithungo residents in Mbooni constituency when he commissioned a poultry project.
Kibwana said the Wiper leader should be given the respect he deserves.
He said Kalonzo should be allowed to enjoy his position as the region’s leader.
Kibwana spoke only days after several Ukambani MPs held a rally on Monday last week seen as an endorsement for the Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua as the region’s political kingpin.
A section of leaders from Machakos, Makueni and Kitui counties are meeting in Machakos town to realign the region’s political position for 2017.
They include MPs Regina Ndambuki (Kilome), Victor Munyaka (Machakos town), Itwiku Mbai (Masinga) and Vincent Musyoka (Mwala).
