A UoN student battling brain cancer, is hopeful of recovery after receiving a Sh6 million donation to facilitate an operation.
Third year sociology student Emmanuel Jadudi has thanked Kenyans for their overwhelming response to his plea for the funds.
He said the response for donations to enable him undergo a fourth surgery, to remove a cancerous Grade III Ependymoma exceeded his expectation.
A social media campaign under the hash tag #1MiliForJadudi had called for Sh1 million donation, but instead raised Sh6 million in 28 hours.
Jadudi was speaking at the Sarova Panafric Hotel Saturday afternoon at a media briefing.
The briefing was organised by the Africa Cancer Foundation which collected the funds on his behalf.
Among those in attendance at the briefing were Jadudi’s parents and Kisumu senator Anyang’ Nyong’o who is himself a prostate cancer survivor.
Jadudi’s plight was first highlighted by blogger Biko Zulu who detailed Jadudi’s deteriorating health in a post titled That Thing In Jadudi’s Head.
