NAIROBI, KENYA: United Republican Party ( URP) has threatened to expel Bomet County Governor Isaac Rutto for criticising the Jubilee Government.
Over 40 MPs led by Benjamin Lagat and Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso also want Rutto to resign if he is not satisfied with the way Jubilee is handling devolution.
In a statement issued at a Nairobi hotel, the MPsdefended the President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Rutto administration saying it was committed to its promises.
The MPs were reacting to Rutto’s allegation that theJubilee government is not committed to devolution.
He also accused the government of trying to renege on some of the devolved systems of government which it had initially committed itself to.
Speaking in Kericho, Rutto maintained that governors will not relent in their push for a referendum to increase the powers of the senate and allocation of national  revenue to the county government.
