The government has extended the school calendar by a week to compensate for time lost during the teachers’ strike.
Schools will now to close on August 16, Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi announced on Tuesday.
Public schools were scheduled to close on August 9 at the end of the second term.
Prof Kaimenyi said the third term will also be extended by a week.
The 24-day teachers' strike paralysed learning in schools as teachers kept away from classroom to press the government to implement the 1997 pay deal.
Last week, the Cabinet Secretary said learning would resume on Monday after he directed the reopening of schools countrywide.
