Kaloki tells Kalonzo to keep off his campaigns

Monday, July 22, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY ANITA MUNYITHYA
Jubilee candidate for the Makueni senate seat Philip Kaloki has asked the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to stop meddling in his campaigns. Kalonzo on Friday questioned Kaloki’s education background and claimed he is auctioning the Kamba community to their rivals.
He said if the Jubilee candidate does not reunite with the community he risks being cursed. Addressing the press in Makueni on Saturday, Kaloki said it is his democratic right to contest the seat on any party of his choice and Kalonzo should leave him alone.
“Kalonzo should accept that parties are cars to seek seats and I have already chosen. In choosing Jubilee’s ticket to contest the seat, I am exercising my democratic right and he should respect my political choice just like I have respect his,” he said.
Kaloki said Makueni residents pressured him to vie for the seat to ensure the government implements Konza ICT Techno City and the Multi-billion Thwake Dam project in Mbooni.
“Kalonzo should understand that my candidature is a result of pressure from the locals. They want someone who can pressurise the government to implement these two projects that will transform their lives. I am committed to work with the national and the county governments to ensure these projects are completed,” he said. Kaloki asked the Wiper leader to keep off his personal life.
He said he is a qualified leader with a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Nairobi and Kalonzo should not question his education background. “Kalonzo’s remarks over my education background are reckless, ill-advised and meant to tarnish my reputation,” he said.
