CORD’s anger as Mutula’s name misses on ballot

By Moses Njagi
NAIROBI, KENYA: A new twist has emerged in the race for Makueni Senate by-election after it emerged that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) printed ballot papers without the name of Wiper party candidate Mutula Kilonzo Junior.
CORD has threatened to move to court over the matter and is against suggestions by IEBC that they will paste Mutula Jnr details on the ballot papers.
Wiper chairman David Musila cannot participate in an election where the name of its candidate has been ‘pasted on the ballot’.
He said they will move to court to seek an order IEBC to reprint the ballot papers even if locally to include Mutula Jnr’s name.
He said in its ruling last week, the High Court ordered IEBC to include the name of Wiper Party candidate on the ballot.
He said Wiper complied with the court order to nominate a candidate and present him to the IEBC.
