This 11-year-old genius just got into Harvard, no big deal

[UPDATED] 11-year-old genius has not been admitted to Harvard

While we were still trying to figure out how snap bracelets worked at age 11, this kid's about to go to Harvard. Genius Luis Roberto Ramirez Alvarez from Michoacan, Mexico, is headed to Cambridge, Mass., as an incoming freshman this fall. Alvarez is going to study (get this) quantum physics and plans to run a startup that improves social networking and technology after graduation. Alvarez, who began voraciously reading at age 4, has an IQ in the 152-160 range and has led a lecture on the importance of education. We wish him the best of luck, but we'd still love to know how snap bracelets work. [Source]
UPDATE: Harvard says it has no record of an application from Luis Roberto Ramirez Alvarez. The Latin Times now reports that the 11-year-old has plans to attend the university someday, but he has not been admitted.
