Terror suspect killed, two grenades recovered

By Cyrus Ombati
Mombasa, Kenya: A suspected terrorist was Monday morning shot dead and two grenades, twoguns and more than 200 bullets recovered from his a house in Kisauni area, Mombasa.
The man identified as Kassim Omollo recently converted to Islam.
Police say he was planning  to stage a terror attack in Mombasa and Nairobi and was killed after he defied orders to surrender.
Police say they recovered an AK47 rifle, which had 120 bullets and a pistol with 92 bullets together with the two grenades in the Monday morning operation in Mulaleo area.
Outgoing Coast police boss Aggrey Adoli said the suspect was among those who have been in a terror watch list and that he returned to Kenya recently.
“He opened fire at the officers and tried to use a child as human shield before he was gunned down,” said Adoli.
He added that police found several terror related journals and other materials from the house and they are analysing them.
The incident, according to Adoli, is part of an ongoing operation on terrorists who have been released from Somalia’s Al-Shabaab gang to cause mayhem.
It is not clear if he was behind last week’s grenade attack in Likoni area at a crusade in which 14 people were injured.
