Immigration minister Mark Harper is to press ahead with a visit to Algeria – despite breaking his foot dancing on a table in Soho.
The straight-laced Tory MP revealed his exotic exploits after being spotted hobbling around the corridors of power on crutches.
According to Daily Mail, the minister tumbled on to the floor of a London bar and broke a bone, ending up in hospital to have a large cast put on his left foot
The MP for Forest of Dean boasts that his interests include travelling and keeping fit.
But he came a cropper while partying in Soho earlier this month.
He said: ‘I was dancing on a table in a bar in Sohowhen I fell off and broke my foot.’
But he was quick to insist there was nothing untoward about his night out.
‘My wife Margaret was with me - but thankfully she’s a far better dancer so didn’t fall off,’ he added.
The incident is likely to raise eyebrows when he flies into the Algerian capital Algiers today, where he is expected to meet senior ministers and officials.
Aides today insisted he will press ahead with the trip, which is due to last until Thursday.
‘He is a real trooper,’ said a Home Office source.
