The final declaration of results announced in Bomachoge Chache constituency’s tallying centre for the senatorial race differed from the ones announced at the county tallying hall, a witness said Tuesday.
Mr John Mauti Machini, who was the constituency’s chief agent for People’s Democratic Party candidate Omingo Magara, said that after the final tally, returning officer Wesley Ruto announced that Mr Magara garnered 14,545 votes while Kisii Senator Chris Obure got 7,015.
According to the witness, he was called by PDP’s county chief agent Charles Mogere after the results announced at the Gusii Institute of Technology differed with those relayed to him from the constituency.
Mr Machini told Lady Justice Ruth Sitati that the county returning officer manipulated the results and announced that Mr Magara had garnered 10,017 votes against Mr Obure’s 11,017 votes.
“My candidate’s votes were subtracted by 3,999 while those of Mr Obure went higher by 4,000,” he said.
He claimed he was denied access to the county tallying hall to dispute the results. Hearing continues Wednesday.
