Corridors of Power

A chairman of a constitutional commission who was caught having sex in his office by one of his junior staff has been calling the employees one by one to ask them what they know about the story. Some of the staff members who have "appeared before him" told corridors that although they had details of the incident that has put the commissioner to shame, they are not willing to tell the chairman whom they want outs.

One of the nominees to the position of Principal Secretary spent the better part of the weekend "socialising" with members of the parliamentary committee that vetted him. The man was seen in the hotel where the committee retreated to write its report on Saturday and Sunday, having drinks and meals with the MPs who are due to present their joint report to Parliament tomorrow.

Last week we told you that Ahmednassir Abdulahi was planning to defend his seat at the Judicial Service Commission. Now we are told that the lawyer may have opted out for fear that he may be defeated by lawyers who do not like him. If this is the case it means that Tom Ojienda, the former LSK chairman, will have to battle it out with another former LSK chairman Okong'o Omogeni.

News that President Uhuru is due to make his first state visit to Kampala this week has set tongues wagging. Ugandans, especially those in Kampala, have been discussing the theory that Uhuru's origins may be in Uganda and are planning to raise the matter in one of the meetings if they get a chance to meet the son of Jomo. One of the media houses is planning to host one of the elders who allegedly knows the entire story about Uhuru's father Jomo and how he ended up in Kenya.
