Corridors of Power

Monday, June 17, 2013 - 00:00 -- BY POLITICAL DESK
THE chief agent of one of the presidential candidates in the last general elections allegedly planning to embarrass the man for allegedly not paying those he had enlisted to run his campaign. The agent, who had been hired as an elections coordinator brought on board a team of people to help him do the work. The fact that they are now accusing him of 'eating' their money has been the last straw for the agent. He now wants the ex-presidential candidate to personally feel the heat by exposing him.

A former minister from Rift Valley who failed to capture his parliamentary seat has allegedly been camping in the waiting room in the office of Deputy President William Ruto’s office in hopes he can meet the boss and get a job. After many days of waiting unsuccessfully, the man has now opted to sending emissaries to Ruto and professing profound apologies for some derogatory statements he made about Ruto during the last elections.

Kisumu county governor’s office has reportedly became a haven of idlers and self appointed officials. The County’s Public service board is yet to be constituted but already some people have arrogated themselves the roles and responsibilities which are still vacant. These self-appointees include former councillors. Even more surprising is the appointment of an individual who claims to be the governor's chief of staff and private secretary —an office that is not recognized by the board! Question is, are they working pro-bono (free) or are they being paid?

A judicial officer and a lawyer handling a land fraud case in one of the courts in Nyanza have frequently been spotted at Public Service Club in Milimani Estate enjoying drinks in the company of one of the accused individuals. They may need to reconsider their choice of drinking partners as the man has been bragging how he has 'pocketed' the judicial officer with the regular and copious drinks of vodka every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
