Tuesday March 12, 2013 - News just in indicates that Energy Minister Kiraitu Murungi has urged the International Criminal Court (ICC) to drop Uhuru Kenyatta’s case unconditionally, since the case had a political angle.
Addressing a press conference in Nairobi after welcoming former Head of Civil Service Francis Muthaura who was acquitted by The Hague based court on Monday, Kiraitu said Uhuru and Muthaura’s cases should be withdrawn unconditionally since there was no enough evidence to commit them to trial.
Kiaraitu, who is a Harvard trained lawyer, said Muthaura’s acquittal confirms the suspicion that the cases were politically castigated.
“The withdrawal confirms our suspicion that this was a political case, we want case against President –elect Uhuru Kenyatta to be dropped unconditionally,” furious Kiraitu said.
He said as a constitutional lawyer, ICC Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda has a weak case and she should drop the cases to avoid embarrassment during the trial stage.
