Mzee Jomo Kenyatta was the champion of western imperialism. It is his leadership that deflated the Mau Mau vision of ‘land and freedom’ when upon taking over power he changed the clarion call of liberation struggles from ‘Land and freedom’ to ‘fighting disease, ignorance and poverty’. So he stepped down the narrative from a political and ideological plane to a programmatic level.
Kenya has since 1963 therefore remained a neo-colony. NCCK’s study in the 1980s showed that the Kenyan economy, from the agricultural, industrial to the service sectors, was more than seventy percent controlled by foreign capital. This control is reflected in terms of the laws and policies the government has put in place which are all for helping the further penetration of the Kenyan state by foreign powers and the externalization of our economy by Multi-national Agencies. You have been seeing MPs sponsored by certain companies swimming in the beach before passing certain laws touching on the operations of Multinationals in Kenya?
Kenyatta senior’s idea of an independent Kenya was where blacks took over the place of the white man to facilitate imperialist exploitation of Kenya’s land, resources and labour for Europe and North America’s prosperity. That is why peasant farmers in Migori and Meru, still grow tobacco that is owned by BAT and peasant tea and coffee farmers in Murang’a, Kisii, Meru or Mogogosiek produce tea for export with less than ten percent being sold at factory gates. We produce for Europe and consume from Europe and now China.
Uhuru Kenyatta is the protector of the neo-colonial vision that Kenyatta, Moi and Kibaki have entrenched. He and his ethnic elites have an agenda of capturing the state for elite enrichment and to facilitate foreign infiltration of the Kenyan state system. While minister of Finance, Mr. Kenyatta was IMF’s chief marketer of the so called ‘single treasury account’ which gives central government overwhelming power to control the operations of devolved units. Uhuru like his father believes in centralized authority and detests devolution of power and resources. He defied parliament on many occasions as Finance Minister including on the need to employ more teachers. The main reason is because his idea is that when you centralize public resources and power in Nairobi, then the foreign and local companies that you prefer will be awarded tenders in Nairobi to do works and supplies across Kenya!
This centralized logic is what has led to the institutional capture of the state. Institutional capture of the state is what fertilizes impunity and disregard of the rule of law like the case of Kibaki disregarding the high court on the county commissioners who are still in office against a court order. Impunity is what has fuelled deep inequalities in Kenya. Inequalities, impunity and institutional capture of the state is what produces resentment and intolerance that is at the heart of the many conflicts and hate that is rife in Kenya today.
The civil society in Kenya like Mau Mau has always used guns from foreign sources to fight for land and freedom. It is because Uhuru and ilk control all productive resources and public institutions that we do not have resources to finance our struggles for social justice. The Kenyatta cabal control finance capital, land, the media houses, political parties, key governmental positions including parliament, the police and intelligence so that that they want to shut all other avenues for Kenyans to have their voices heard.
Uhuru Kenyatta and his ilk want to consummate internal colonialism and then soon perfect fascist rule where those who do not agree with them are like pests who should be eliminated. Maina Kiai is the face of the social justice movement which the Jubilee juggernaut wishes to shut up because defenders of the voiceless are an inconvenience. They get to ask questions like: “who are the willing sellers who sold your family more than 30,000 acres of land in Taita Taveta?”
So the propaganda is to first of all paint NGOs as agents of imperialism so that when Uhuru’s government starts to crash Human Rights defenders, the whole country will join in chorus urging ‘the extermination of the vermin’. Yet Constitutional Commissions including NCIC seem to aid this conspiracy by helping the preaching of peace without truth and justice as the pillars of that peace.
Uhuru Kenyatta’s propaganda machinery must be stopped because it is his gang who are the agents of imperialism not social justice and rights defenders. Like his father, Uhuru wants to step down our country’s vision from the political and ideological plane to the programmatic level where delivery of imported fertilizer to farmers in Eldoret is not aiding of imperialism but the campaigning for social justice and accountability of rulers to the people of Kenya that makes for undermining of Kenya’s sovereignty.
