UHURU KENYATTA maintains firm lead as RAILA ODINGA trails in OFFICIAL RESULTS

Thursday, the 7th of March 2013 - With results from the country’s various constituencies slowly trickling in, Jubilee’s Uhuru Kenyatta has managed to maintain a firm lead over CORD’s Raila Odinga in the official tally currently being released by the IEBC.

With results from only 116 of the total 291 constituencies so far released Uhuru’s tally has reached 2,791,325 votes while Raila comes in a close second with 2,023,470 votes.

IEBC commissioners are releasing the results of the various constituencies in dribs and drabs even as Kenyans continue to express concerns after the delay.

Tension has escalated even further after CORD’s press conference this morning at which VP Kalonzo Misyoka called on the IEBC to stop tallying the results because its count had been compromised by the addition of rigged votes.

Kalonzo said that CORD’s allegations of rigging had been informed by concerns raised by Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore over IEBC’s electronic system and the fact that some areas had a bigger vote tally than the number of registered voters.

More updates to follow.
