Tuesday, the 12th of March 2013 - Two of CORD’s leading legal minds have accused the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of having secret meetings at Bomas with Returning Officers in an attempt to conceal crucial facts about last week’s elections.
The two, James Orengo and Mutula Kilonzo made the revelations during a press conference in Nairobi earlier today.
“IEBC is secretly meeting with Returning Officers at Bomas as regards to the documentation,” said Orengo.
Orengo also added that the Returning Officers are being aided by officials from the ‘provincial administration’ to conceal the truth.
Orengo also told the IEBC to “desist from urging Kenyans to accept the results when they know there are petitions.”
Mutula for his part said that there is a ‘shortfall of about 1.8 million votes’ from those nast last week adding that it’s a sigh of a ‘serious malpractice at IEBC.’
Mutula also called on the Jubilee Alliance to say that they will accept the ruling of the Supreme Court on CORD’s election petition;
“Jubilee should equally say that they will accept the ruling of the court,” he said.
CORD has until Monday next week to file a petition with the Supreme Court opposing the election of Uhuru Kenyatta as Kenya’s 4th President.
